When finished in 2010, the Chicago Spire will become the tallest building in North America - surpassing the 1,451-foot Sears Tower in Chicago and the 1,776-foot Freedom Tower in NYC.
The Chicago Spire will be located on the north bank of the Chicago River just west of Lake Shore Drive and will be coupled with a new park.

Looks like the world's largest drill bit. No doubt, pretty soon everyone in Chicago will be able to recite from memory the poem about the man with the corkscrew cock.

The area where the mayor helped speed up the process of transforming the old airport into a park (that was actually always owned by Chicago Park District) actually *is* a park now called Northerly Island... and has been for a while. Just fyi.
